Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy founded by Zeno of Citium. It reasons personal ethics is informed by its system of logic and its views on the natural world. According to its teachings, as social beings, the path to Eudaimonia for humans is in accepting the moment as it presents itself, by not allowing oneself to be controlled by the desire for pleasure or fear of pain, by using one's mind to understand the world and to do one's part in nature's plan, and by working together and treating others fairly and justly.
The Stoics are especially known for teaching that "virtue is the only good" for human beings, and that external things—such as health, wealth, and pleasure—are not good or bad in themselves, but have value as "material for virtue to act upon".
The Atelier Grandi Spring/Summer 2019 collection “Prismania” graced the runway of Amazon Fashion Week TOKYO on October 17th, 2018 after its debut in Vancouver on Sept 21, 2018.
Since its conception in 2013, the Atelier Grandi has delighted its clients and a growing audience with feminine timeless silhouettes and quirky touches of asymmetry.
With the 12 Tokyo Fashion Week runway looks I wanted to distinguish the collection entirely from the Vancouver showing. By layering to create new silhouettes, new colour combinations and new accessories, I sought to show the ultimate powers of a capsule collection and how truly inventive any consumer can be with a few tasteful pieces in the wardrobe.

One of Spain’s most famous artists, Joan Miró, left a career in the business world after suffering a nervous breakdown. His work demonstrated a contempt for conventional painting methods, which reflected his attitude against the social reeling towards conformity. After all, isn’t that what being iconic is all about? To be a rebel and to go against the grain?

Taking inspirations from the tones and the gestures from works by Jheronimus Bosch, Abraham, Evelyn De Morgan, we sought to twist out the core elements that unite us across time and space.

It has been a long standing dream to style a fashion editorial in the alien landscape of a desert. This particular area is known for the exotic, spiky "Joshua Tree" in addition to some fascinating geological formations such as the "Hemingway Buttress", where I shot with the fabulous Roberutsu . These formation partially owe their shape to ground water, filtered through the rectangular-esque joints of the monzonite and eroded corners and edges and flash floods which wash away covering grounds to reveal rounded boulders.
Joshua Tree also gave me the intense focus to test drive just how many ways can one style a scarf?

"Lost" is a part of a tryptic featured in @bringmemag. The triptych is centred around being "Lost", "Awakened" and "Empowered".
Working with Daisy, I was asked to imagine how I define power. What it currently looks like, who has it, how we get it, how it is lost
Some of the key words she gave me were control, diversification, equal rights and moving forward.
Within this series, I sought to create three distinct phases to separate Valeria from the environment.
Firstly I wanted to use the dark intricate patterns to communicate contemplative confinement, secondly the transparency of a hopeful chrysalid looking out into uncertainty and finally, silken flowing garments, flags, with the colours announcing a new dawn.
The Prismania LookBook is a production I styled in anticipation of the Atelier Grandi showing in Amazon Tokyo Fashion Week to share the Spring/Summer 2019 capsule collection, “Prismania” with Japanese fashionistas and fashion buyer alike.
For a “Quirky Art Mistress” is all things creative, daring, sophisticated and seductive. I pushed myself to remix the pieces of the capsule collection with some choice accessories until looks that showcased all the different sides distinctly were born.

Some key words Roberutsu threw at me were “Hepburn”, “Voguing” and “Robot”.
On those notes I looked to curate shapes and shadows that would be fitting to the Golden Age of Hollywood with mesh, velvet and dropping back cut-outs. I was particularly drawn to the foot-long cigarette holder made iconic by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. I specifically sought to recreate this in the catsuit worn with the corset, its curving lines not only echoing the rigid structure of the holder but also the feminine ideals of the time.

For the theme “Sisters” we experimented with the duality of masculinity and femininity expressed in the postures and colours.
In the styling I was drawn to the cyclical rise and fall of the sun as a metaphor.
To me “sisters” are locked in an eternal blood bond and while one may race ahead, sparkling for all to see, there are always more treasures to be discovered with every coming season.
I chose the textured dark garments to evoke the depths of the night sprinkled with playful shapes the moonlight cuts out and the translucent layers to awaken the transition into the soft lilac colours of early sunrise.
Every fall, artists, makers and interior designers converge in Vancouver for the Interior Design Show and this year Atelier Grandi joins the opening festivities with select pieces from the “Prismania” Collection to spread a little cheer and play amongst the world class tableau vivants.
As an “event” stylist, I wanted to make sure to show the full range of “Prismania” by establishing three personas:
1. The Daytime, Office Chic
2. The Jet-Setting Executive
3. The Red Carpet Diva
I chose the simplicity of a colourful head wrap to keep things consistent across the board and to draw a further connection to the Atelier Grandi Vancouver Fashion Week Runway, where I planned to featured a similar hairstyle.
